Welcome to the Expressive Arts Studio at CMHR, where creativity meets healing through our transformative Expressive Arts programs. Our studio harnesses the power of creative arts—including visual arts, music, drama, and movement—to promote personal growth, healing, and self-discovery. Perfect for therapy and community settings, these programs offer individuals a unique opportunity to explore emotions, process trauma, and cultivate effective coping mechanisms.
We integrate various art forms such as visual arts, music, drama and creative writing as therapeutic tools, providing a holistic and creative approach to healing and self expression.
Arts and crafts, games and movement, mindfulness practises and more! Join us in our inspiringly colourful art room and have the BEST day off school!

Art journaling is a versatile tool for inspiring creative self expression in children, youth and adults. At Expressive Arts Studio, we use therapeutic art journaling as an early intervention to help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and emotional issues. Having a special place to express themselves freely and creatively helps develop confidence, self awareness and mindfulness. We provide a safe and cathartic space to communicate and create by using art and words to process thoughts and emotions. The groups are guided step by step through the stages of artful journaling and emotional expression.

Everyone wears a mask when they interact with the world around them; this therapeutic creative workshop is designed to help artists explore who they present themselves to be on the outside and who they really are on the inside using mask making. They will decorate the front of their mask to be representative of that exterior facade (how I believe others see me), and then decorate the inside of the mask to represent what is going on inside (how I see myself).
